Photography taught me to observe, to wait, and not to explain everything.
I work with photography, writing, and teaching, without always keeping them separate. Here, I have brought together some of the projects and interests that have stayed with me.

Artistic practice

For me, photography was first a way of looking, and only then a way of making images.
My practice focuses on the relationship between presence and absence, proximity and distance, memory and the instability of perception. I work primarily with black-and-white photography and self-portraiture, creating series in which personal experience is not a conclusion, but a starting point for broader questions.
I am drawn to images that cannot be exhausted by an immediate reading: frames in which the body, space, light and time retain an unresolved tension. At times I work through observation, at others through staging, but I always seek a form of inner truth rather than the illustration of a predetermined idea.

A path shaped through images.
My path has not been a linear one. I studied psychology, economics, visual arts and visual culture—fields that I do not regard as separate directions, but as complementary ways of understanding how people see, construct meaning and make decisions.
I completed a master’s degree at the National University of Arts in Bucharest and the Visual Studies and Society master’s programme at SNSPA. Artistic research and the critical study of images provided a theoretical framework for a photographic practice developed over more than two decades.
The Creative Absinthe series, produced as my master’s dissertation project, was nominated for the StartPoint Prize. In 2017, I received a scholarship in Amsterdam and took part in the Living as Form programme.
My work includes solo and group exhibitions, photographic projects, documentary collaborations and visual research. I collaborated with RISE Project as a photojournalist on the documentary film Killer Inc.

04 / Teaching
Seeing can be learned.
For nearly a decade, I have taught photography at Fundația Calea Victoriei. My courses explore portrait photography, street photography, the history of photography and the development of a personal visual voice.
Teaching is a natural extension of my practice: an exercise in making complex ideas accessible and in shifting attention from the camera towards intention, observation and meaning.
