Revolution of the modernists
A revolution of form occurred in the early twentieth century that changed the very fabric of art, design, and media into something unimaginable, radical, and revolutionary for the given time—abstraction. Inventing Abstraction: 1910–1925 at the MoMA, examines this now essential ingredient in art-making, exploring the works of artists crucial to the movements unparalleled growth within this short period of time. Works from artists such as Vasily Kandinsky, Fernand Léger, El Lissitzky, Kazimir Malevich, Theo Van Doesburg, and Fortunato Depero where among my favorites, combining color and form into something rhythmic and interpretive with a timeless quality that makes their work evermore impressive. Although based towards my favorite period in art and design, this exhibition is a must see, displaying a massive collection of truly original and revolutionary work that has undoubtably changed the face of art and design.
